Serge, Valérie and Florence Dagueneau own and manage 20 hectares of vines on the right bank of the Loire near Pouilly. Traditional and forgotten varieties are cultivated on these white soils, particularly Chasselas and Pinot Beurrot. Once again, we appreciated all the different wines, starting with the Estate's Pouilly-Fumé, made in a light, elegant and pleasant style. The 2006 "La Léontine" shows fine minerality with a sappy texture". Le "Clos des Chaudoux" 2006, slightly more suave in the mouth, is just as delicious.
La Léontine 2006
This wine has an intense nose, tending towards yellow fruit with a hint of smokiness. In the mouth, it is intense, lively and expressive with a ripe and powerful core, still compact with good density. It is an ambitious and successful wine, concentrated without being excessive or heavy. Deserves to be discovered: 15/20

Clos des Chaudoux 2006 - 1 star
This "Clos des Chaudoux" comes from a well exposed parcel of Kimmeridgian marl soil. The nose reveals notes of peach and very ripe apricot. On the palate, it is ample, lively and concentrated, foretelling a favourable future for this wine. A year or two of laying down will further improve this Pouilly-Fumé which would be an excellent match with prawn kebabs.
"La Léontine 2006", barrel matured, will reach its peak in two to three years.

This family estate is headed up by Serge Dagueneau and his two daughters, Florence and Valérie, who earned their stripes at Burgundy's œnological institutions. We received a warm welcome. The first wine we tasted was this year's subtle and elegant Pouilly-Fumé. The Chaudoux would be a delightful accompaniment for white meats. The vines are more than 45 years old and enjoy a full southern exposure. Matured on its lees, the wine is deliciously unctuous. "Les Filles" is richer, slightly overripe. "La Léontine", which has seen several vintages, is a model of its type with fine balance and intensity and would be perfect with lobster.
